For Jake and my anniversary, we went to Hood River OR! It didn’t turn out exactlyyyy how we planned...
Some of you may have heard about the awful gorge fire last year, so unfortunately last year’s was a little more sparse. This year’s seemed to be a little better! The day was bright, sunny and vibrant! Everyone was so happy to be there, and it was nice just to be in that energy - that although the vendor tent was PACKED...the crowds blocked the booths from being able to reallly scope and check them out. Jake was super stoked because he got his apple pie parfait! (Check out his cheesy grin below)
BUT! Despite that, I just enjoyed being there and getting to experience it, leave town for the day, and see the pretty orchards with my guy!
After that, we tried to go to Packer’s for some cookies and pumpkins! Unfortunately, the parking lot was SO packed. They had to have the cars wait lining up down the road, waiting for people to leave, before being able to go in. So we said screw it! HA!
I said, “JACOB! Take me Good News Gardening!” SO we went. It’s one of my happy places in Hood River! I treated myself to a couple signs made by P.H. Graham. Perfect for our little coffee bar! And some pretty plants!
All in all, it was a gorgeous day! I loved every fun, unexpected second of it!
We started with breakfast at Redwood off of Stark St. in Portland. Can you tell I’m living that low carb life? HA!
Of course, we first stopped into the hard cider tent for some samples of local PNW hard ciders!! BOY WAS THAT SOOO YUMMY! It was a perfect way to get us started for the rest of the event! After that we checked out all the huge selection of apples! I got about 5 different ones to try out for making homemade apple sauce and make Jake some apple pastries! Anyways, after that we moseyed our way oastbthe shrubs and towards the back by the clearance! I found the cutest planter that I knew would be beautiful on my front porch for my hens and chicks succulents! 50% off people! Score!
We made our way inside to weigh the apples and pay for my planter and plant/ shrub of got! We found some cute plants indoors as well, but I refrained from getting more! Takes so much self control! HA!
If you’ve made it this far in my post, thanks for sticking through the whole thing! This is definitely my longest post yet, but it’s been an amazing month and I’m happy to be able to document and share some really cool finds!
